CLASH OF THE ASH SIGNALS START OF SUMMER!

“The hay saved and Tipp bate!”
Cork hurlers defied the pundits by inflicting a ten point defeat on fancied Tipperary at Pairc ui Chaoimh on Sunday.
When Cork lost to Galway in the league final, it looked like the end of the road for many of their senior players.
Somebody obviously rattled the Cork cage. They went away to lick their wounds and plan revenge
Tipperary reaped the whirlwind on Sunday, and Cork are now 9/2 third favourites to lift the Liam McCarthy Cup on the first Sunday in September.
The betting is Kilkenny 11/10, Tipperary 11/4. Cork 9/2, Galway 5/1, Waterford 12/1 and 80/1 bar. Cork are 4/9 to win the Munster title, with Waterford 2/1, Clare 12/1 and Limerick 33/1.
Waterford play Clare this Sunday, while Cork will expect a stroll in the sun against Limerick later in the month.
Kilkenny still look strong as they seek that illusive and historic 5-in-a-row, while Galway are still very much in contention.
It is all boiling up very nicely.
Meanwhile interest will focus on the footballers this weekend.
Kerry entertain Cork in Killarney, and the bookmakers can’t split them, offering 1/1 each of two.
Limerick travel to Waterford to take on a Deise side still smarting from their recent league final defeat at the hands of the Shannonsiders in Croke Park.
Waterford will be really fired up for this one, and Limerick can expect a hot reception in Fraher Field.
The visitors are a poorly-priced 4/7, with Waterford at a generous 2/1. It could go any way here and, with a place in the Munster final at stake, expect a real cracker!
Latest All Ireland betting; Cork 2/1, Kerry 9/2, Tyrone 9/2, Dublin 9/1, 20/1 bar.
Limerick Senior Football betting; Drom-Broadford 7/4, Fr Casey’s 5/2, St Senan’s 7/2, Adare 11/2, Ballylanders 7/1, 10/1 bar.

ABBEYFEALE ANGLERS UPDATE
“The drought on the river continues, but at least one lucky (expert?) angler landed a salmon on our stretch. Kevin landed a ten pounder on the fly ten days ago while coaching a novice. He then returned the salmon to the river in the best spirit of angling.
Timmy went to the weir in Galway to try his luck on Sunday and landed a ten pounder on the fly. The fly was tied in Abbeyfeale, but no information is forthcoming on the person who tied it to prevent a run on that poor misfortune. He has enough on his plate already.”
