LIMERICK HEADING FOR CROKE PARK!
| Category: Local News Sport | 0 Comments
The Limerick Senior Footballers are heading for Croke Park for the first time in seven years.
The Allianz National League Division 4 final between Limerick and Waterford will be played in Croke Park at 5.00pm on Saturday, April 25th.
Limerick’s last appearance in Croke Park was in 2003 when they were defeated in the Division 2 NFL final by Westmeath. On that occasion they led by two points with minutes to go but went down 2-12 to 1-14, after conceding a late goal.
Two Abbeyfeale players, Padraig Browne and Eoin Joy, are members of the team, and a big Abbeyfeale contingent is expected to travel to Croke Park for the final.
Paddy Power bets it; 4/9 Limerick and 9/4 Waterford.
Munster Rugby is also on the march.
Following their great 33-19 win over Northampton at Thomond Park, Munster will play their Heineken Cup semi final against Biarritz Olympique on Sunday May 2nd in the Estadio Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastian.
Leinster are away to Toulouse in the other semi-final, and the prospect of a mouth-watering clash between Munster and Leinster in the final in Paris in May looks a distinct possibility!
Meanwhile Abbeyfeale RFC will host the junior interprovincial Munster V Ulster at The Grove on Saturday 1st May. Kick-off 2.30 pm.
3-D TV IN ABBEYFEALE!
The first 3-D television pictures were beamed into Abbeyfeale last weekend. The venue was Jack O’Rourke’s Bar in The Square and the occasion was the eagerly awaited top of the table clash between Man Utd and Chelsea.
Sadly, for Man U fans it all ended badly. Drogba’s blatantly off-side goal was greeted with a chorus of boos, while a shower of dark 3-D glasses were pelted at the TV screen accompanied by many colourful and unprintable comments and suggestions about blind, partisan linesmen.
It was great fun altogether!
