Several people have posted items to our GUEST BOOK recently seeking information about relatives who lived, or are still living, in the locality. With many census records now being available online, it is getting easier for exiles to trace their roots, and many of these roots are leading back to Abbeyfeale. (A great sign of energy and health from those who departed these shores!)
Hopefully, we will have many visitors to the area over the coming months as the economic climate worldwide slowly improves. Many of these people will be anxious to trace their forbearers and perhaps visit the ancestral home if it is still standing.
We would ask that people would log on to the GUEST BOOK (above) and check to see if they can help any of these good folk to trace their relatives. Information can be e-mailed directly to the person involved or it can be posted on to the GUEST BOOK.
Meetings can also be arranged with these people when they finally visit Abbeyfeale. (Alternatively, you can make sure that you are out when they call!)
Anyway, check the GUEST BOOK. Who knows? That black sheep that was cast out by the family all those years ago may now be a multi-millionaire and be on first name terms with Barack Obama.

QUIZ: There was a huge turnout for the Table Quiz in aid of the Haiti earthquake victims at the Winners Circle Bar last Friday night. Over thirty tables took part and up to €6,000 was raised. Well done to all concerned.
AGM: The Limerick Association in London will hold its AGM on Sunday, February 21st. Further details will be announced shortly.
WALK: The annual walk in aid of Rathfredagh Cheshire home will take place next Sunday, January 31 starting at the Devon Inn at 10.00 am. For more details contact Anna-Maria on 086 8143633.
RUGBY; Abbeyfeale were beaten 16-13 away to Castleisland on Sunday but gained a valuable bonus point. Robert Brown scored two tries for the Fealesiders and Paul O’Sullivan kicked a penalty.
Abbeyfeale play Presentation at The Grove on Sunday with a 2.30 pm kick-off.
There was no jackpot winner in this week‘s rugby draw. The winning numbers were 5, 17, 27 and 29. Lucky dip winners were Gerry Mangan (Knocknagoshel), John Heaslip (Listowel), Elizabeth Kissane (Tarbert) and Seanie Brosnahan (The Cellar Bar). The next draw will take place next Monday 28th January and the jackpot will be €1800.

GAA: Fr. Caseys GAA Club will hold their Annual Club Social this Saturday night the 30th of January in the GAA Clubhouse, Abbeyfeale. Tickets cost €20 and can be obtained by contacting any committee member. The meal with be served at 9pm sharp and music on the night will be provided by Jeremiah Roche. 2009 was a very successful year for the club with the Under 21 football team winning the County Title while the senior football team won Division 1A of the County League and narrowly lost the County Championship Final.
COURSING; There was a big turn-out at the coursing social in the GAA Club last Saturday night. It was, by all accounts, a most enjoyable night as was evident from all the sore heads above in the church porch during last Mass on Sunday!
The three day Clonmel Coursing Meeting starts on Monday.
