Jimmy Dennison sends us the following:
The inaugural meeting to form a community based group of mixed voices, will take place in Glorach on this Thursday night 15th October at 8pm. The meeting is open to everyone, and all, who enjoy joining in a chorus, for hearty social enjoyment. The ethos of this new Glorach group will be – many voicesone community – singing songs for our own personal pleasure. Failte romhat.
What do we offer? Glorach is built for and maintained for everybody
in the community. What goes on is enjoyable and positive, attractive
pastimes with many advantages, and it is about self confidence. We are just ordinary folk who like to come together, enjoy one another’s
company and meet socially in an artistic studio. People in the community are starting to see the value of what Glorach can do for
them. It is growing every year and becoming an intrinsic part of the
fabric of our living. We in Glorach don’t spend money we haven’t got, so we are all volunteers, who pull together as a team in the many things we enjoy doing.
So what’s different? Our new initiative is different :- to take Glorach, an open house with an open door, to those who like to use their voices, and, that includes any person reading this information item, one of the many voices in our community. Voices are interesting. People now are saying ‘its one of those things I must get around to’ If you are in that group , why not come into a supportive happy environment and express yourself in using your voice singing just for fun. If you want to sing and be involved Glorach extends to you a cead mile failte – Jimmy Dennison

Meanwhile, Munster came within inches of completing a remarkable comeback against Northampton in the Heineken Cup but in the end lost 31-27 in front of a capacity crowd at Franklin’s Garden. At one stage in the second half they trailed 28-14 and were being forced to defend heroically to prevent the home side scoring a fourth try. But prevent them they did and two Ronan O’Gara penalties and his superb conversion of Tomas O’Leary 67th minute try left just one point separating the sides. Shane Geraghty landed a simple 74th minute penalty to leave Munster needing a try to snatch victory and only an inexplicable decision from referee Christophe Berdos stopped them claiming what would have been a remarkable win.
