FLEADH BY THE FEALE!

Raymond | Category: Local News Sport | 0 Comments

They will be literally dancing in the streets of Abbeyfeale this weekend as the fifteenth annual Fleadh by the Feale Festival opens on Thursday 30th April and continues until Monday 4th May.

There will be open air entertainment in The Square each evening, and “sessions” in most of the public houses.

Street busking contests, with groups numbering from three to six, will compete in different categories, while master classes in various disciplines will be held in the convent hall.

Highlight of the weekend will undoubtedly be the concert in the convent hall on Sunday evening featuring Four Men and a Dog.

The All Ireland Bone Playing Championships goes ahead on Monday evening and is sure to attract a huge crowd to The Square.

Further details of all events from Maureen Murphy on 086 3265762 or from the Fleadh by the Feale website.

RUGBY

Croke Park will be the focus of attention on Saturday evening for the clash of Munster and Leinster in the Heineken Cup semi-final.

Abbeyfeale aficionados are travelling in force, while those without tickets are already booking their favourite seats in the various taverns around town.

The fiddles and melodeons from the Fleadh will fall silent around 5.30pm, but expect them to start up again with renewed gusto sometime after 7 o’clock to hopefully celebrate a great Munster victory.

There could be a lot of polkas danced in Abbeyfeale on Saturday night!
