PARADE MEETING ON MONDAY!

A meeting of the Abbeyfeale St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee will take place in St Ita’s Hall on next Monday 25th February at 7pm. Anyone interested in helping out at this year’s parade is cordially invited to the meeting on Monday night.
FLEADH;
The AGM of Fleadh by the Feale will take place at Leen’s Hotel on this Thursday 21st February at 8.30 pm. New members welcome.
AWARD:
Twohig’s Super Valu of Abbeyfeale has been awarded an Excellence Ireland Hygiene & Food Safety Award. The presentation was made by Trevor Sargent, Minister for Food and Horticulture, at a recent function in Dublin.
DRAMA;
Abbeyfeale Drama Group are busy rehearsing for John B Keane’s “The Field” which will be performed in the GAA Clubhouse on the 24th, 25th and 26th February, and also on the 1st, 2nd 4th 6th and 8th March.
GOLF;
The first outing of 2008 by Abbeyfeale Golfing Society is to O’Mahonys Point, Killarney on this Saturday 23rd of February. Names to be submitted to any committee member by 6pm on Wednesday 20th. See your society newsletter for a list of committee names and phone numbers. Annual subscriptions are now due and can be paid on the morning of the outing. SOCCER;
Abbeyfeale Utd A were beaten 3-0 away to Newcastlewest in the first round of the Desmond Cup on Sunday. They are away to Regional Utd in the last sixteen of the FAI Junior Cup on next Sunday 24th February. Kick-off 2.30pm.
GAA:
Padraig Browne was in the starting lineup for Limerick against Tipperary in Thurles on Sunday but the Shannonsiders were beaten by 2-20 to 2-9. Limerick footballers make the long trek to Fermanagh, to find that the game had been called off due to fog. Kerry beat Tyrone by 0-12 to 0-9 in Tralee on Saturday evening.
RUGBY;
Abbeyfeale were beaten 14-5 by Mallow in a league match on Sunday. Ireland play Scotland in Croke Park on Saturday next, and Princess Ann will be in attendance.
