WE HAVE BEEN UPGRADED!
| Category: Local News Sport | 1 Comment
We have finally, and at enormous expense, upgraded our web site. And as with any new venture, we are bound to have a few teething problems. However, we hope that by trial and error (mostly error) we can finally develop a trouble-free and easily accessible site which everyone will be able to utilize and enjoy.
The site address remains the same. However, some of you may get a default page with the words “oops, something went wrong” when you log on for the first time. Click on “HOME” and this will take you to the home page. Send this new page as a short cut to your desktop and you are up and running.
N.B. Everyone will have to renew their membership to the new site. Click on “Register” and follow the instructions and you should automatically become a member.
Members can sign the GUEST BOOK and also give their comments on any of the articles and features. This “COMMENTS” feature is a welcome addition to the site and gives members the opportunity of airing their opinions on the many diverse and often controversial subjects that crop up from time to time.
All postings from members will go through a Moderator for the moment, as we attempt to weed out all potential troublemakers. This will mean there will be a delay between submitting material and having it posted on the site. (usually no more than 24 hours.)
However, regular contributors will presently be given open access which means that they will be able to have their material posted immediately.
And we are desperately seeking new contributors. If you are interested in sport, music, politics, history, literature, poetry, art, photography, fashion, cooking, etc. or if you have any exciting hobbies or pastimes, and would like to submit a regular or occasional article, we would be delighted to hear from you..
We would also love to receive submissions from our overseas visitors who come from such diverse and distant places as U.K, France, Germany, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, etc. Write and tell us about your life and times and all of the happenings in these exotic and faraway places and we will publish them.
We also carry a free advertising service for local businesses. If you would like a link on our web site, please contact us with the relevant details.
Our PHOTO ALBUM is working on a limited basis and is still being upgraded.
We hope that you enjoy the new site. We will inevitably have a few problems at the start, but we will endeavour to fix these as quickly as possible.
Please contact us through the web site or at dromtrasna@hotmail.com with your comments and queries.
And for those of you who are, like me, completely computer illiterate, take comfort from the following:
Murphy’s Laws Of Computing.
1. When computing, whatever happens, behave as though you meant it to happen.
2. When you get to the point where you really understand your computer, it’s probably obsolete.
3. The first place to look for information is in the section of the manual where you least expect to find it.
4. When the going gets tough, upgrade.
5. For every action, there is an equal and opposite malfunction.
6. To err is human. To blame your computer for your mistakes is even more human – it is downright natural.
7. He who laughs last probably made a back-up.
8. If at first you do not succeed, blame your computer.
9. A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from a simpler system that worked perfectly.
10. The number one cause of computer problems is computer solutions.
HAPPY SURFING FROM ABBEYFEALE ON LINE!
WEATHER
The present spell of bad weather has wreaked havoc with silage operations in the locality. Many silage contractors have been enable to enter sodden fields with heavy machinery, and slurry spreading has also been suspended due to continued rainfall. Some farmers still have not cut their first crop of silage, and hopes for a second good crop are quickly fading. Cereal crops are also being seriously affected.

The annual 6km walk in aid of Abbeyfeale For Africa takes place from the Church yard on this Sunday 22nd July at 5pm. Sponsorship cards are available from the Farmers Market, the local Credit Union or any committee member.
LOUGH DERG:
A pilgrimage to Lough Derg leaves on this Friday 20th July and returns on Sunday 22nd July. The cost is €95 including coach, boat and island fees. Further details from 068-31232
