CROWDS ATTEND PARADE! (pics on MSN)

The 2007 St Patrick’s Day Parade drew huge crowds to the town (see MSN Photo Gallery) and the wet and windy day failed to dampen the enthusiasm of those who lined the parade route to cheer on the participants. The parade was led for the first time by the Moyross Pipe and Drum Band and, of course, our old friends from the Rathkeale Brass Band also took part. The floats were colourful and imaginative, and all of the local sporting organizations were also well represented. The prize for best float proved to be a difficult decision but after much deliberation, the judges opted for the Abbeyfeale Horse and Pony Racing entry. The prize for best window display was just as difficult and was eventually awarded to Tomas TJ O’Connell, with Ann Lyons in The Square also receiving favourable mention.
The organizing committee wish to thank everyone who took part in the parade and also the spectators who added greatly to the occasion. Thanks also to everyone who contributed to the recent Church gate collection.
We have published a selection of photographs in our MSN gallery. If anyone else out there has any more pictures that they would like to share, please send them on to us.
Happy St Patrick’s Day to one and all!
