TOWN LOOKS SET FOR BUSY WEEKEND!

It looks set to be a busy weekend in Abbeyfeale as the town gears itself for some serious celebrations.
First and foremost is the centenary of the death of Fr William Casey, our former and much-loved PP whose statue dominates The Square. It is probably the most recognizable and photographed feature in the area. Much has been written about Fr Casey over the past few weeks and it is fitting that his memory should be revered and honoured. A book on his life, written by Marian Collins, is due out shortly, and Abbeyfeale Folk will produce a play based on his life and times later on in the year. It should also be remembered that Fr Casey’s, the club that he founded, are the present Limerick Senior Football Champions. (Does one detect a hidden hand in this?) Various, lectures. Book-launches, dances and ceili sessions are planned and it promises to be a hectic weekend for those who like to partake in a bit of socializing.
