MAYO 2004.
(Air; "Men of the West")
Mayo beat Tyrone and Fermanagh,
Now Kerry are barring our way:
Jack O`Connor has Declan O`Sullivan
And three nephews of Paudie O`Shea.
Kiltimagh`s Peter Burke is our goalie,
David Heaney from Swinford a star;
Alan Dillon from famed Ballintubber
Can rifle them over the bar.
Conor Moran a valiant defender
Is from Derrada, beside Burrishoole;
Trevor Mortimer and Conor are brothers
Of Kenneth the hero from Shrule.
James Nallen is a marvellous footballer,
Outstanding was Gary Ruane:
(Willie Joe Padden has a pub in Belmullet,
That star of the days that are gone!)
David Brady was powerful at midfield,
Ronan McGarrity loves sweet Ballina;
Peadar Gardiner and gallant Pat Kelly
Are the pride of Old Erin go Bragh.
James Gill is the young man from Westport
Who travelled all over the globe;
Our captain was brave Fergal Costello
From the army and famed Ballinrobe.
Brian Moloney and Marty MacNicholas,
Andy Moran arrived on the scene;
With Austen O`Malley from Louisbourg.
Three cheers for the red and the green!
Kerry will win the All Irealnd
According to those in the know;
But we have young Kieran MacDonald,
And John Maughan is training Mayo!
